The Tracebot project is a European Union-funded initiative that focuses on developing robotic systems capable of handling sterile medical products with precision and accuracy. This project addresses a significant challenge in the healthcare industry, where manual procedures often dominate the creation and testing of new products. The Tracebot consortium, comprising six strong partners from five countries, aims to bring verifiable actions to robot manipulation by leveraging digital-twin technology and extending current robot motion planners with self-checking procedures. The Tracebot project's objective is to create robotic systems that can understand their surroundings, ensure that any manipulation action is verified, and meet the stringent requirements of the regulated environment. To achieve this, the consortium is working together to develop tactile grippers for handling medical products, design manipulation skills for regulatory checking actions, generate an intuitive programming method for adapting to novel products, and develop a reasoning framework for monitoring and controlling the safe operation of the robot system. The Tracebot project's work is guided by representatives of the pharmaceutical industry and is being coordinated by the health network BioLAGO (Germany). This initiative has received funding from the European Union's H2020-EU.2.1.1. INDUSTRIAL LEADERSHIP programme, and its duration is from January 2021 to March 2025.
