MASS, an acronym for Massachusetts Advocates Standing Strong, is a statewide organization that operates across five regions in Massachusetts. The organization provides a platform for self-advocates to advocate for themselves and others, promoting social connections and leadership development. MASS offers various groups, committees, and task forces that focus on specific issues affecting self-advocates, including a Supportive Decision Making (SDM) Task Force, a Conference Planning Committee, and a Voting Club. These initiatives enable self-advocates to share their expertise and take action on issues that matter to them. MASS is committed to making its website accessible to all users, incorporating the Userway accessibility feature to ensure equal access to information. The organization's advocacy efforts span across multiple areas, including legislation, special projects, and individual self-advocacy. MASS also runs conferences and retreats that offer opportunities for learning, self-advocacy, and socialization. Through its Regional Coordinators and self-advocates, MASS empowers individuals to establish groups, provide basic self-advocacy training, and connect with opportunities to share their expertise. MASS also offers trainings, such as the Explore, Prepare, Act (EPA) employment training and Awareness and Action (A and A) training, which are designed to equip self-advocates with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed.
